The goal of A Review of Open Research in Health Ecosystems in Ireland (ROCHE) is to understand policies, practices, challenges and opportunities for open research in commercialisable research, particularly in Digital/Connected Health research and innovation in Ireland. Through dissemination of findings and networking events, ROCHE promotes the adoption of open research principles in public-private research partnerships, identifies opportunities and needs, and supports the development of an action plan for the sector.

At the 29th Annual International Conference on Science and Technology Indicators (STIENID) held at The University of Bristol, U.K. (3-5 September), Prof. Kalpana Shankar (UCD) presented “Mediating Tensions in Public-Private Research Partnerships: The Role of Ideology”. Kalpana also presented as part of a panel on “EDI in Turbulent Times: Science Policy and Inequality Research under Political Pressure”.

At a recent Arqus Alliance online seminar series on 11 September, Dr. Gail Sheppard presented a lightning talk and led an interactive workshop on “Emerging Issues in Open Science” as part of the “Libraries of the Future Communities of Practice Seminar”. Maynooth University is part of the Arqus Alliance, which brings together nine longstanding comprehensive research universities with deep regional engagement in medium-sized cities.

The team bids farewell to Research Assistant Marie Dunne, who has taken up a new role as a librarian with Dublin City Council. ROCHE colleagues extend their best wishes as she embarks on this next chapter.
