Open Repositories Ireland (ORI) was launched on 2 December at the University of Galway, marking an important milestone for the Irish open repository community. In order to ensure the success of ORI, nominations for two community convener positions are invited. These positions play a key role to support the Open Repositories Coordinator and to contribute to the governance and success of the network.

The community conveners will serve for an initial 24-month term and are eligible for re-election.

The aim is for the convener role to rotate between institutions to ensure diverse representation and collaboration across the network. community conveners assist the Open Repositories Coordinator in facilitating meetings, advancing ORI’s initiatives, and representing the community when required.

Serving as a community convener is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of Open Repositories in Ireland, support national advocacy for open research practices, and enhance professional profiles.

Eligibility and Nomination Process
Nominations are open to all ORI members actively involved in the network. You can nominate yourself or a fellow member who you believe would be an excellent fit for this role. If you have not signed up to ORI and would like to self-nominate, you can fill in this online form.

To nominate, please email cloughnane@universityofgalway.ie by Friday, 31 January 2025 with the following details:

  • Name of the nominee
  • Institution and role of the nominee

If there are more than two nominations, elections will be held shortly after nominations close.

ORI look forward to receiving your nominations and thank you for your ongoing support of ORI’s mission to advance open research practices across Ireland.

ORI is an outcome of the two-year project ‘Open Access Repository Assessment and Alignment’ funded by the NORF under the 2022 Open Research Fund. Led by the University of Galway, the project brings together a consortium of fourteen institutional and organisational partners to enhance Ireland’s open repository landscape.
