DARIAH-IE is the Irish node of the pan-European Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH), an infrastructure supporting digitally enabled research and teaching across the Arts and Humanities. DARIAH-IE has officially endorsed Ireland’s National Action Plan for Open Research. This endorsement reflects DARIAH-IE’s mission to support digitally enabled research and teaching across the Arts and Humanities and its commitment to fostering an open, transparent and collaborative research environment in Ireland.

What Is the National Action Plan for Open Research?

Launched in November 2022, the National Action Plan for Open Research 2022–2030 is a roadmap for implementing open research in Ireland. It outlines national goals and coordinated actions to help the research system support open research practices. The plan was developed by Ireland’s National Open Research Forum (NORF), which brought together representatives from policy, research funding organisations, research performing organisations, the library sector, research infrastructures, enterprise and other key stakeholders in the research system across Ireland.

Stakeholder organisations that have endorsed the National Action Plan are listed on the NORF website.

DARIAH-IE’s Role in the Open Research Ecosystem

As Ireland’s node of the pan-European Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities, DARIAH-IE plays a key role in advancing digital scholarship. Hosted by Trinity College Dublin’s Long Room Hub it provides researchers, educators and practitioners with access to digital tools, training, and collaborative networks. Endorsing the National Action Plan highlights DARIAH-IE’s commitment to integrating open research principles into its initiatives.

As DARIAH-IE continues to support Digital Arts and Humanities researchers, educators and practitioners, this NORF partnership will be key to advancing open research practices for the Digital Arts and Humanities community in Ireland.
