On 18th June 2025, HEAnet brought together key national stakeholders for a workshop aimed at shaping the future of EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) in Ireland. The event focused on advancing discussions around the definition and practical implementation of an EOSC node specifically for Ireland.
This collaborative session built on the foundation of the first draft position paper, which was released for public consultation in April 2025. The paper outlines a vision for how Ireland can integrate more fully with the wider EOSC ecosystem, ensuring that Irish researchers have seamless access to open, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) research outputs and infrastructures.
You can view the draft paper here via the NORF website.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to contribute feedback, share priorities and align on key objectives for the national EOSC approach. Their input will directly inform the final version of the position paper, which is set for publication in July 2025.
This work represents an important step toward strengthening Ireland’s open research landscape and supporting long-term participation in the European Open Science Cloud. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving initiative.
