Open Repositories Ireland is pleased to share the agreed Irish OpenAIRE v4 Metadata Guidance for DSpace Repositories, a comprehensive national guide designed to assist repository managers in aligning with OpenAIRE 4.0 metadata standards.

This practical guide provides tailored technical guidance for DSpace repositories, though its principles can also be applied to other repository platforms. It ensures repositories remain compliant with OpenAIRE’s latest metadata requirements while supporting best practices in metadata management across Ireland’s open repository network.

You can read and download the full guide here: OpenAIRE v4 Metadata Guidance for DSpace Repositories.

The resource was developed with the contributions of key individuals as part of the National Open Research Forum project. You can read more on Open Repositories Ireland here: Building a Sustainable Irish Open Repository Network: Where We Are Now and Where We Are Going.

This project contributes to Ireland’s National Action Plan for Open Research, specifically to targeted action A4.1.1 (Conduct a national programme of open access repository assessment and alignment to deliver standardised metadata nationally while building and aligning infrastructure according to international best practice). It plays a vital role in Ireland’s commitment to enhancing metadata standards, ensuring repositories adhere to best practices, and promoting collaboration within the open research ecosystem.
