Under the theme ‘Data for Positive Change: Empowering Communities and Advancing Research’, International Data Week 2025 (IDW 2025) is taking place this week, 13-16 October 2025, in Brisbane, Australia. IDW 2025 will combine the Research Data Alliance 25th Plenary Meeting (RDA P25) and SciDataCon2025.

On Monday, 13 October, during the RDA Plenary Meeting session ‘National PID Strategy Case Studies – Aligning Regional and National Policies’, case studies were presented by members from France, Ireland, Germany, Latin America, Australia and Digital Science (UK).

Dr Michelle Doran, National Open Research Coordinator, represented Ireland with a presentation on ‘The Irish National Persistent Identifier (PID) Roadmap and Strategy’.

Michelle’s talk highlighted the major and ongoing outputs from Ireland’s national PID work, including:

  • Key recommendations and the PID roadmap
  • Developing EOSC-compatible National PID recommendations
  • Next steps such as the review of the recommendations and the national workshop (hybrid meeting) taking place on 7 November during NORFest 2025.
