Developed by Dermot Lynott and Dounia Lakhzoum (Maynooth University), the TROPIC programme offers a skills-focused, cross-disciplinary training experience designed to equip researchers with practical knowledge across open research practices.
What to Expect
This “Train the Trainer” event offers a unique opportunity to:
- Get an overview of the full TROPIC course content.
- Learn about the philosophy behind TROPIC’s skills-oriented approach.
- Access training resources and guidance on delivering the programme in various institutional settings.
- Discuss with the TROPIC team how the training can be adapted to meet the needs of specific research communities.
- Network with colleagues from across Ireland who are also supporting open research training.
TROPIC supports researchers in developing practical open research skills through six short, targeted modules:
- Introduction and Creating Researcher Profiles
- Learning about Open (and Questionable) Research Practices
- Thinking about Research Integrity and Open Research Across Disciplines
- Data Management Planning and Resources
- Study Preregistration and Reproducible Workflows
- Publishing, Licensing, and Dissemination
The programme is designed to develop practical skills for researchers, while also enhancing awareness of open research practices across the lifecycle. Each participant develops a research portfolio, focused on their own research project.
