The NORF-funded Review of Open Research in Health Ecosystems (ROCHE) project is currently exploring practices, challenges, and opportunities related to Open Research in the context of commercialisable research in Ireland, with a focus on the evolving area of Connected Health.
As part of this work, the team (Kalpana Shankar, Gail Sheppard, Alesia Zuccala) presented “Open Science, Intellectual Property, and Tensions in Public-Private Research Partnerships: The Irish Context”, at the Atlanta Conference on Science and Innovation Policy on May 15, 2025. A link to the programme can be found on the conference website.
Members of the ROCHE team (Marie Dunne, Kalpana Shankar, Gail Sheppard) will be presenting “Boundary Spanners and (In)visible Work: Data Stewards and Public-Private Research Partnerships” at the upcoming International Conference on the Science of Science and Innovation in Copenhagen (June 16–18, 2025). More information can be found on the ICSSI website.
In addition, the project’s paper titled “Open Research Practices in Public-Private Research Partnerships in Ireland: An Institutional Logics Approach” has been accepted for EURAM 2025 in Florence (June 22–25, 2025).
The team is also conducting interviews with stakeholders across Ireland’s health research sector to gain further insights into the role and implementation of Open Research practices.
