HEAnet, Ireland’s National Education and Research Network, plays a pivotal role in supporting the country’s academic and research communities.

We welcome the launch of the HEAnet Strategic Plan 2025-2030 which seeks to address the ever-growing demands of the education and research community through key focus areas (Network, Security, Research, Sustainability and People) and foundation enablers presented in the document, along with research networks through their partnership with GÉANT.

As outlined in their Strategic Plan, HEAnet is committed to driving research excellence by supporting FAIR data management, advancing national research infrastructure, and fostering collaboration. HEAnet will enhance Open Science efforts, helping Ireland’s research community to innovate and excel on the global stage.

We are delighted to see that the HEAnet 2025-2030 strategy for research aligns with national and EU policies, including Ireland’s National Action Plan for Open Research 2022-2030 (prepared by NORF under Impact 2030: Ireland’s Research and Innovation Strategy) to foster innovation, drive impactful research and enhance our national research infrastructure.
