NORF Logo and Funding Acknowledgement Guidance

This set of guidelines describes how to acknowledge NORF funding in various settings and advises on the appropriate use of the NORF dual language logo.

Obligations of NORF Funding:

As per the Letter of Offer, all publications and outputs from the research project must acknowledge the support of the NORF Open Research Fund, including using the logos of NORF, the HEA and the Government of Ireland where appropriate.

It is a requirement that the Lead Applicant notifies NORF in advance of their participation in any significant events, for example, attaining an award of significant merit or substantial participation in events of national interest or impact connected to their award.

If the host institution or any member of the research team intends to issue a press release about the research project, the host institution must notify NORF in advance to allow for coordination. The contents of any press releases or announcements associated with the Grant should be agreed by NORF first to ensure they comply with current publicity requirements.

Logo Pack

The Logo Pack contains various formats of the NORF Primary Logo for screen and print. Further formats and versions of the NORF logo such as the NORF Secondary Logo and the NORF circles graphic, are available on request. Where possible, the NORF logo that should be used in all publicity materials and in all promotional activities is the NORF Primary Logo in Full Colour (this is labelled as the horizontal NORF logo in the dual-language pack).

The NORF logo can only be used with express permission. NORF reserves the right to direct individuals and organisations to remove the logo with immediate effect. The logo must not be modified in any way without prior consent. If you have any questions on the use of the NORF logo, please contact norf@ria.ie.

The two colours present in the NORF logo are blue and orange. Reminiscent of the original NORF logo, blue promotes integrity and trust, while orange speaks to creativity, excitement and energy and is a long-established colour in Open Access and Open Science. The details of the two official brand colours present in the NORF logo variations are available in the logo pack.

The logo pack also includes the funders banner featuring the NORF, HEA and DFHERIS logos. As a reminder, all publications and outputs from your research projects must acknowledge the support of the NORF, the HEA and DFHERIS using the funders logo, as per the instructions in the next section.
